Giants interim head coach Steve Spagnuolo addressed the media for the first time on Wednesday after his first practice in charge following the firing of former coach Ben McAdoo, and NJ.com was there.
Spagnuolo officially announced Eli Manning has been reinstated as the Giants' starting quarterback during the press conference, a week after Manning was controversially benched for Geno Smith. Spagnuolo was also asked about the future of the Giants, his candidacy for the permanent coaching job, the quarterback situation going forward and more.
Manning also spoke to reporters in his usual Tuesday slot once the team's locker room opened up, now that he will be starting on Sunday at home against the Cowboys.
NJ.com Giants beat writers Dan Duggan and James Kratch and columnist Steve Politi were at the team facility in East Rutherford.
The 2-10 Giants made a historic change Monday by firing McAdoo and general manager Jerry Reese. Kevin Abrams has been named the interim general manager. Co-owner John Mara said he expects the Giants to try to win the next four games.
"I told them I would not put up with any talk in this building about tanking or anything else," Mara said, "and I expected us to go out and try to win these games. I expected their best efforts to try to get us to do that."
